For my blog, I chose the "Simple Blog Literate" theme. I chose this theme due to three reasons. The first reason is that I really like reading. I was a literature major in college. I have read a lot of books over these past several years, so it was a bit of an identity thing as to why I was drawn to the background. I chose the picture of a single opened book for my background because I think it accurately reflects the type of mindset I want people to read my blog with, one that requires deliberative concentration.
The second reason is that I really like the plain aesthetic it gives the blog. I want people to be focused on the text of my blog rather than how it looks like. The blog still looks good enough to not turn someone away from reading it, but it's not flashy either, which might be distracting. The background image also looks good but doesn't draw the eye away from the center.
The third and final reason for my theme is that I think that it looks somewhat authoritative. I want people to read my blog knowing that I put time and effort into it. I think the font, colors, and image translate this message well. The brown has a nice, neutral tone, which gives the blog a sense of seriousness, but not humorlessness. I have not tweaked this blog with more advanced options, but I may do so in the future.

ReplyDeleteI like your theme. Our focus is on the writing in our blog entries, and this is a really easy blog to read. The colors you picked are neutral but not dull, which is hard to pull it off, feels like I'm actually reading a book. The only issue is that it contrasts the background image a bit too much, but otherwise it looks pretty solid.
